So dear filesuck merchant, you have journeyed thus far to sponge some files for your pleasure? Well take heart. They are all available here!

    Enlightenment

    enl_DR-0.10.tar.gz (1239Kb)
Date Released: Wed Jun 25 14:31:48 EST 1997
This is the full source to Enlightenment with all necessary data files. You now need to get Imlib separately below whenever it is updated. You NEED the latest version of imlib to run wiht Enlightenment.

    Imlib

    imlib_DR-0.2.tar.gz (31Kb)
Date Released: Wed Jun 25 14:31:48 EST 1997
This is the full source to Imlib only. This version of Imlib is more advanced that the Imlib included in DR0.8 of Enlightenment. DR0.9 of Enlightenment does not contain Imlib anymore. Get this Imlib release, if you haven't gotten it already. You only need to get a new version when its released, so you can update Enlightenment and Imlib separately.

    Rxvt-Imlib

    rxvt-2.20-Imlib.tar.gz (211Kb)
Date Released: Fri May 16 19:36:06 EST 1997
This is the full source to rxvt-2.20-Imlib. This is rxvt-2.20 modified to use Imlib instead of libXpm. It uses Imlib to load the Images and to rescale them. If you have rxvt-XPM, get this version. It should be much improved. The GNU configure script that configures it doesn't always seem to find libXpm properly. If it doesn't you'll have to edit the config.h manually and make sure HAVE_LIBXPM is #defined in order for it to compile with Imlib and pixmap support.

Just run the INSTALL script as root in the archive directory once you untar it as follows for Enlightenment and Imlib. Rxvt-Imlib is more traditional:
  > su
  Password:
  # tar -zxvf enl_DR-0.10.tar.gz
    [..... lines deleted .....]
  # cd enl
  # ./INSTALL
    [..... lines deleted .....]
You now should have the package installed. Read the instructions that the INSTALL script gave you. If it didn't install, or your are paranoid, read the INSTALL script yourself and do it all by hand. It shouldn't be too hard.

For Imlib DR-0.2 you need either Imagemagick installed OR the netpbm/pbmplus distribution. For more information on where to get these packages see the Informationpages. If you do not have either of these installed (you may have both installed, but Imlib will take as preference to use Imagemagick), you will only be able to load PPM and PGM format images. The background image in the default Theme for enlightenment is a JPEG, and so wll not load if Imlib cannot use either of these two packages to convert the image for it.

I will be releasing RPMs of Enlightenment, Imlib and rxvt-Imlib in the future, once I have sufficient development releases behind me.

Please remember that these are a development releases. Many functions don't work yet, but will be coming soon. It's a completely new set of code, config files etc. You may have problems compiling and/or installing them, so I suggest that you then do that manually. A good idea if upgrading releases is to completely wipe the old one by deleting the /usr/local/enlightenment directory and starting afresh. If you have a .enlightenment directory in your home directory, you might like to temporarily rename that, as any config files it may contain may not work with new releases. Good luck!

You may also wish to go to The Window Managers page to check out other window managers, or even vote for your favorite, or take part in discussions, or read announcements.

If you run or like Enlightenment, why don't you VOTE for it here!
